The rooms are spacious and well furnished with a terrace. Good beds.

I'm confused about the star rating - this is a 4-star hotel, but other than room size, the facilities weren't particularly 4-star quality. In 4-star, I expect a certain level of luxury and attention to detail. There was a dead fly on the bathroom floor when I arrived - it was still there when I left. It's all about expectation - the restaurant was very rustic. The food on offer limited. Other than a pool, massages, various organized walks and the arrangement of tours that were priced around 25% above what my remise driver offered, there were no other services/facilities. Very family oriented; quite a lot of young couples with babies/small children. Having said all of this, even though I would recommend to young families.

The feeling of living off the beaten track. The quiet and the stars. The fact there was an interesting experience to compliment the Iguazu Falls. You can catch a bus to the falls for 5 pesos a short walk from the Lodge. Beats taking a pricey tour.

We stayed at the Lodge for three days and were sorry to leave.

This place is an ideal location if you want to be isolated from everything else. It is a very peaceful setting. Nothing else around to distract you. The room is very spacious. The bed was very very comfortable and the spa bath was a delight. This place is only 2 years old and it still has a new feel about it. The snacks on the menu also very reasonable. Umbrellas also provided and this was a plus as it rained quite a bit during my stay. I would recommend it highly if you want to unwind. I actually stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the luxury that it afforded

Wi fi internet kept cutting out possibly because of the area being so isolated and staff could have been a bit more pleasant.Lacking in the smiles department. Also a good 40 minutes walk into town and 20 minutes to the main highway so if you do not like walking this place is not for you.

    • Family with children

The hotel is located in a beautiful place; my husband and my child enjoyed it so much, the air, view, noise and peace was an a+.

    • Couple

The price was great if you compare with other hotels surround, it includes Wi-Fi even in the room, the breakfast was simple but very delicious, the bed was so big, the bathroom had good design...all stuff in the room was great.

We didn't find an explicative folder in our room telling about the hotel and its facilities, time and price of the activities, about the city and other turist spots. We also miss a all night service of food, it could be just simple itens to eat.

      Freindly staff good location

Maintanence is not perfect heating did not work shoer room with corosion

La Cantera is possibly the best Hotel I've ever been! The treatment that the staff gives to you is unbelieveable, they make all the efforts for you to feel pleased! The Room is just the best, well decorated and cozy. The location is the best, in the jungle but a few minutes from the city (actually you can walk 30 min and there you are, or by car). I will definetely be there again.

I cant say something bad. The stay was perfect. I had one day of overbooking and they explained everything to me. I needed to be transfered, but they sent me to a great hotel, just beside in the same conditions. Fair and honest.

      Nothing special

pool was not heated, very expensive hotel taxi

    • Group of friends

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - we were presented with fresh juice on arrival and given so much information about the area and help with our on-going journey too. The food in the hotel was lovely and we were even treated to a floor show of tango dancing during our meal - and danced with the dancers themselves at the end of the show! The room was extremely comfortable - we had the best night´s sleep in months of travelling! The bed was enormous and the even the sheets were high quality! This was by far the best Lodge we have stayed in around the world, for the extremely competitive price. Don´t miss it!

    • Older travelers

La Cantera was a big disappointment. The website leads you to believe that it's a bit of luxury in the jungle. It's really quote basic. The staff are very blasé and unhelpful. If you want a response to a problem you need to email as this goes to a guy in Buenos Aires who seems much more customer orientated and gets problems dealt with. The restaurant staff were very good and worked hard. The extras that can be pre booked are half board which I would recommend as the food is reasonable. The Green Passport can be bought in the National Park for less than the hotel charges. Taxis are also cheaper booked independently. The staff don't mention that buses are available to town and the national park. It's a pleasant 20 min walk to bus stop. Much cheaper and more enjoyable.

Downstairs rooms smell musty and are damp. Staff (with the exception of restaurant staff) are unhelpful. One guy on reception kept his headphones on whil dealing with an enquiry. Very slack!

    • Couple

Comfortable, big rooms, jacuzzi bath, big balcony. Hotel is located in jungle, not in Iguazu city, which is significant advantage. At the same time, Iguazu city is just 1,5 km near. Staff is good and ready to help / assist you. You can take free bikes (but the're only 2 bikes in hotel :). Good reastaurant for dinner. Iguazu falls are really impressive (Argentinian side is better than Brazilian side), must to see.

    • Couple

The location of this hotel, in the jungle, makes for a lovely place to stay.

The staff are helpful and friendly, although we found that you sometimes needed to ask fornthings that in other hotels would just be done.

    • Family with children

We liked the "jungle" athmosphare and the cozyness of the hotel and staff. My kids said: " it's like a dream that comes true". The food was excelellent - we ate ther both breakfasts and dinners.

Take into consideration that in April, the swimming pool water temperature was to cold for me. My kids enjoyed it ofcours even if it was with icebergs..

    • Single

Perhaps the thing we liked best was the location. It was overpriced, had boring, expensive food. Our tv did not work, was not fixed in three days. We could not use the internet. Not unexpectedly, all free activities were rained out and clearly no one could be faulted for that. We paid over $300 for our first two nights and $200 for the third night. It was the worst value we have had in Argentina out of five hotels so far on this trip. The next worse was a three star. I think that says it all. Will not recommend or ever go there again!

see above and use as you wish

    • Older travelers

Great surroundings, in the middle of the "atlantic forest". The rooms are excellent, large, very confortable beds, a large secreened porch that lets you feel surrounded by nature, no damp smell at all even the climate is extremely wet. Great pool, very good dinner at the restaurant. If you rent a car, like we did, it gives you great mobility in going to the city of Puerto Iguassu to have dinner at very good restaurants there, as well as being able to take your time to visit the park on either side, Brazil or Argentine.

Breakfast is adequate but not at the same level as everything else that La Cantera offers.
